Job summary

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Norfolk seeks a Space and Facilities Specialist to manage day-to-day facilities issues, coordinate moves and oversee procurement and contracting for space, furnishings and services.

qualifications include 2+ years in facilities or design roles; familiarity with GSA rules; and the ability to obtain required certifications. This full‑time position requires U.S. citizenship and a background check.

Qualifications

• At least two years in design, construction or facilities-related roles.
• Experience with GSA procedures and regulations.
• Ability to obtain required certifications for procurement and space/facilities.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, coordinate and react to day-to-day facilities management issues.
• Identify, recommend and track space, maintenance, furnishings, and related services.
• Evaluate contract performance and address project requirements with senior court managers.
• Prepare and submit Reimbursable Work Authorizations (RWA) for GSA projects and verify charges.
• Procure supplies and services via new or existing government contracts; negotiate best prices.
• Maintain inventory of government property and ensure proper disposition of excess items.
• Schedule moves and coordinate IT and U.S. Marshal Service requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Judiciary policies and internal controls.
