E-Space in Santa Clara, CA is seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a background in 5G Core Network development to architect, develop, and maintain critical network functions. You will work on 5G core processing with 3GPP protocols, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture, targeting satellite-enabled IoT and next-gen mobile telecoms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM fields.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience in telecoms or networking.
• 5+ years with 5G Core Network Functions or LTE/4G EPC (MME/SGW/PGW/HSS).
• Proficiency in C++, Python, and modern programming languages for telecom processing.
• Deep knowledge of 3GPP specs and RAN/5G-NR/LTE protocols; ability to resolve protocol issues.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and control-plane signaling patterns.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD, and test-case development with tracking.
• Proven debugging and performance optimization skills; able to analyze network logs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain 5G Core Network Functions and their service-based interfaces.
• Implement 3GPP protocols including NAS, PFCP, GTP-U, HTTP/2, and interfaces like N4/N11.
• Build microservices with REST-like APIs and distributed systems patterns.
• Troubleshoot distributed systems and protocol interactions in 5G core infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain core network probes for real-time monitoring and traffic analysis.
• Create automated test frameworks for functional, integration, and regression testing with results tracking.
• Collaborate with leaders and cross-functional teams to elicit requirements and document designs.
• Perform research and develop tools to optimize network KPIs and operational efficiency.
• Support products through testing, validation, and deployment cycles.
