E-Space in Arlington, TX is seeking a Senior 5G Core System Engineer to own end-to-end core design for a satellite-based IoT network. You will decompose requirements, define interfaces across the core service chain, and drive architecture decisions with software, platform, and back-end teams.

The role requires 12+ years in system/network engineering with deep 5G SA Core/LTE experience, strong 3GPP knowledge, and proven ability to produce precise interface specifications and trade studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required.
• 12+ years in system or network engineering with focus on 5G SA Core or LTE EPC.
• Strong command of 3GPP 5G Core architecture: NAS protocols, SBI interfaces, session, policy and charging management.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end 5G Core system architecture across the service chain (AMF, SMF, UPF, UDM, PCF, AUSF, CHF, NEF).
• Define and own interface specifications at core domain boundaries and with backend platforms (charging, billing, SIM provisioning).
• Drive trade-off analyses, latency tuning, and complexity vs. flexibility in policy and charging architecture.
• Analyze satellite-imposed constraints and translate into core design decisions.
• Lead call-flow design for key 5G Core procedures in satellite context.
• Define requirements and interface contracts for back-end platform integration (CDR, CHF, UDM, data models).
• Evaluate build-vs-buy options for core network functions; produce trade studies.
• Define system-level acceptance criteria and performance benchmarks; coordinate testing.
