Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD, invites energetic engineering interns to join the Space Science Electronics group. You will assist in electronics design for space flight instruments, contribute to FPGA and embedded software development, and help assemble and test hardware.

You will document designs, support laboratory testing, and present your work to peers while following established engineering processes.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in electrical, computer, software engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with success in teamwork.
  • Strong technical experience demonstrated in at least one internship, research, or project outside of class.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing electronics for space flight instruments and ground support equipment.
  • Contribute to FPGA and embedded software development.
  • Assemble, integrate, and test electronic hardware and instrument subsystems.
  • Conduct laboratory testing, debug hardware and software, and verify performance.
  • Prepare design documentation, test procedures, and presentations.
  • Work closely with engineers and scientists in other disciplines.
  • Present technical work and incorporate feedback from peers.
  • Follow engineering processes and quality standards for hardware.
