Job summary

Vast in Long Beach, CA is seeking an Avionics & Power Systems Engineering Manager to lead a world-class team developing avionics and power systems for Haven Station and satellite programs. You will partner with stakeholders, own system architectures, and drive verification strategies.

This full-time exempt role reports to the Senior Director of Avionics Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test. Must have 8+ years in aerospace avionics and 2+ years of cross-functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or aerospace engineering.
• 8+ years in aerospace avionics systems.
• 2+ years leading or managing cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Hire and manage a team of avionics and power systems engineers.
• Drive system-level architecture trades to closure with stakeholders.
• Own fault management strategy for avionics and power subsystems.
• Lead cross-functional teams to capture operating modes and requirements.
• Drive FMEA/FMECA analyses for avionics and power systems.
• Quantify performance metrics to guide technical decisions.
• Establish verification milestones and oversee validation campaigns.
• Own ICD and configuration control across the vehicle.
• Coordinate verification reports and Final Verification Reviews.
• Maintain V&V tracking processes with Vehicle Systems Engineering.
• Supervise engineers to meet time and quality targets.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices in Systems Engineering.
