Job summary

Abacus Group in Jacksonville, FL seeks an Associate, SPAC business to provide financial controller support for SPAC entities under U.S. GAAP. You will collaborate with Accounting, Legal, Tax, Treasury and other teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment.

The role includes month-end and quarter-end closes, journal entries, and preparing SEC filings (S-1, 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K, S-4). 2+ years in financial services with SPAC exposure and CPA preferred are valued assets.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in financial services industry.
• Exposure to SPACs preferred.
• Experience with SEC reporting (10-Q/10-K).
• CPA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial controller support for SPACs under U.S. GAAP reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and other teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
• Advise on transactions, entity structure changes, and financial impacts across business activities.
• Execute month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries for investments, financing, expenses, intercompany activity, cash, and taxes.
• Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and SEC reporting documents, including S-1, 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K, and S-4 filings.
• Process entity-level administrative activities, including wire payments and invoice submissions.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, review accruals, resolve discrepancies, and escalate key issues.
• Support external audit requests and provide required financial documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements and special projects supporting finance and business operations.
