Job description

We are working with a large, established financial services firm that is looking to add a Financial Reporting Associate to its Jacksonville accounting team.

This is a hands-on accounting and financial reporting position supporting multiple legal entities within a complex financial services organization.

The team is open to candidates from a variety of accounting backgrounds. The most important qualification is strong, hands-on experience with financial statement preparation, financial reporting, and US GAAP accounting.

Financial services experience is preferred, but candidates from public accounting or other industries with strong financial reporting experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review quarterly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries, accruals, intercompany activity, cash activity, and other accounting entries
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account substantiation
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity and provide commentary on material variances
• Support accounting and reporting for multiple legal entities
• Partner with Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Technical Accounting, Regulatory Reporting, FP&A, Operations, and other internal teams
• Assist with accounting analysis for new transactions and changes to entity structures
• Support internal and external audit requests
• Assist with capital activity, intercompany settlements, and other entity-level accounting transactions
• Help improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls
• Assist with ad hoc accounting and finance projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Approximately 1 to 4 years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience
• Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing financial statements
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience with month-end or quarter-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Financial services, investment banking, broker-dealer, or capital markets experience is preferred but not required
• Big Four or public accounting experience is a plus
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Experience with Oracle, Essbase, HFM, or similar accounting systems is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple accounting and finance teams
