Job summary

Charles River is seeking an IT Internal Audit Intern for Summer 2027 to support SOX testing and gain hands-on experience in a corporate audit environment. The role offers exposure to internal controls, documentation, and collaboration with global teams.

You will work with Internal Audit professionals, developing risk assessment, testing procedures, and practical recommendations while completing a 12-week program with potential extension based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
• Strong interest in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, or Corporate Governance.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work in a team.
• Analytical, organized, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, preparation, and execution of SOX compliance testing.
• Evaluate design and effectiveness of internal controls through testing.
• Prepare and maintain audit workpapers per standards.
• Collaborate with staff across domestic and international locations.
• Conduct interviews with process and control owners to understand key processes and controls.
• Assess compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
• Document audit observations and help develop actionable recommendations.
• Assist in preparing periodic status reports and testing updates for management.
