Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager to support our Southeast Region (Atlanta, Charlotte or Chattanooga) by managing transmission and substation design projects from 12-kV to 500-kV and growing our renewable business. The role requires entrepreneurial spirit, strong leadership, and the ability to manage P&L and multi-stakeholder coordination.

You will lead projects from concept to closeout, develop schedules, control costs, and collaborate with owners, contractors, and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in engineering, construction management or related degree from accredited program with 7 years applicable experience.
• Experience on construction project sites or executing program management in industries including aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work overtime on short notice in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
• Ability to collaborate with owners, contractors, engineers and designers in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
• Leverage client relationships and develop new opportunities to grow repeat business.
• Serve as project point of contact with owner for coordination, planning, scope management and budgeting.
• Provide end-to-end project management from concept to closeout.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope and control costs.
• Manage internal project financials, staffing, risk and change management.
• Communicate with client regarding coordination, master scope, budget, subcontracting, staffing, environmental compliance, schedule attainment.
• Manage all aspects of project communication and QA/QC compliance.
• Report progress, cost, schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns.
• Travel to client and project locations; estimated travel commitment 10-15%.
