Job summary

CSL Behring is seeking a Director of State Government Affairs for the Southeast US, responsible for serving as the primary liaison to state officials and stakeholders and shaping policy affecting CSL Behring therapies in the region. You will collaborate with internal teams, draft legislation, analyze regulatory matters, and lead grass roots coalitions to advance access and policy objectives.

Based in the Southeast, you will support Medicaid policy and engage with trade associations and advocacy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government, political science, or related field is required; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years’ experience with demonstrated knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes in the Southeast US.
• Direct government affairs experience; state legislative experience desirable.
• Advocacy experience with pharmaceutical/biotech, trade associations or patient advocacy groups is highly desirable.
• Strong business acumen in life sciences; customer focus and trust with internal/external customers.
• Timely decision-making under tight deadlines; excellent negotiation and political savvy.
• Strong written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent CSL Behring before state legislatures, agencies and committees in the Southeast region.
• Draft legislation, provide technical corrections, and build support for priorities.
• Develop legislative strategy, regulatory analysis, and political analysis for CSL leadership.
• Lead cross-functional discussions, action plans, and grass roots coalitions with stakeholders.
• Build relationships with patient advocacy groups, trade associations and policy allies.
• Coordinate with market access, reimbursement, contracting, communications, and other teams.
• Prepare summaries of legislation and policy actions for diverse audiences.
• Translate complex topics into clear language for leadership and external audiences.
