Job summary

CSL Behring seeks a Director of State Government Affairs for the Southeast US to lead policy engagement with state officials, assess legislative and regulatory issues, and advocate CSL Behring priorities.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, build grassroots coalitions, and represent CSL Behring with state legislatures, agencies, and patient advocacy groups across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government, political science, or related field.
• 7+ years’ experience with knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process, particularly in the Southeast US region.
• Experience in government affairs or state government; advocacy with pharma/biotech, trade associations or patient advocacy groups desirable.
• Business acumen: understands life sciences industry and policy impacts.
• Customer focus: build relationships with internal and external customers.
• Timely decision-making under deadlines and pressure.
• Strong negotiation skills in tough situations with multiple groups.
• Political savvy and ability to manage competing interests.
• Strong written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent CSL Behring for state government affairs in the Southeast region and build relationships with legislators, staff, and agencies.
• Provide legislative strategy, regulatory analysis, and clear guidance to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Lead site operations representation across the Southeast region.
• Support CSL Plasma growth by advancing public policy and Medicaid access initiatives.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to develop and implement action plans with stakeholders.
• Develop relationships with patient advocacy groups and trade associations to advance advocacy initiatives.
• Prepare summaries of legislation and government actions for leadership and stakeholders.
• Participate in state affairs committees for relevant associations.
