Job summary

Macdonald & Company seeks an experienced development leader to direct regional expansion of affordable and mixed-income housing across the Southeast. Lead origination, due diligence, financing, and construction oversight from site control through stabilization.

Relocate to Charlotte, NC, manage complex capital structures, partnerships with public agencies and private partners, and a growing pipeline across multiple markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Real Estate, Finance, Urban Planning, Construction Management or related field.
• 7+ years real estate development experience, including affordable housing.
• Experience leading affordable housing/mixed-income developments from site control to completion.
• Extensive knowledge of LIHTC, tax-exempt bonds, public funding and layered capital structures.
• Strong experience with housing authorities, municipalities, public agencies and governmental partners.
• Proven ability to originate opportunities via brokers, partnerships, off-market sourcing, and public-sector networks.
• Strong financial analysis, underwriting and development management capabilities.
• Experience leading multiple complex developments across markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead developments from pursuit through due diligence, entitlement, financing, construction and stabilization.
• Oversee site selection, feasibility, consultants and development strategy.
• Manage architects, engineers, attorneys, contractors and partners throughout the lifecycle.
• Monitor schedules, budgets and execution to ensure timely delivery.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Originate opportunities through relationships with landowners, brokers and public entities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with housing authorities, agencies and stakeholders.
• Represent the firm in the affordable housing community and expand the regional pipeline.
