Meridian Senior Living in Ventura, CA is hiring a Sous Chef to oversee proper preparation of the planned menu in the absence of the Executive Chef and to assist in supervising all kitchen staff, maintaining a positive, courteous work environment for both staff and residents.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to understand and follow English instructions, and 2–3 years’ experience in hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Two to three years’ experience in a hotel, restaurant, or club with fine dining preferred.
• Culinary education and supervisory background desirable.
• Ability to plan and organize work and interpret instructions, recipes, and standards.
• Serve Safe Certification a plus; knowledge of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• The Sous Chef is responsible for the proper preparation of the planned menu in the absence of the Executive Chef and assists in the supervision of all kitchen employees maintaining a positive, courteous work environment for staff and residents.
