Job summary

Westtown School seeks an experienced full-time Sous Chef to join our Dining Services Team in West Chester, PA. The role leads daily culinary execution, maintains safety and sanitation standards, and supports a fast-paced operation serving 1,200 meals daily and events.

Typical hours include 11:30 AM–8:00 PM and 6:30 AM–3:00 PM with weekend work. Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, PTO, holidays, 403(b), and tuition remission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in institutional food service management preferred or related field.
• Two additional years of sous chef experience can substitute for the degree.
• Minimum two years of sous chef experience in institutional food service or similar setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team leader.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily culinary execution for the Dining Services Program, ensuring policy and regulations compliance.
• Document purchasing, inventory, food preparation, and equipment use to support efficient operations.
• Uphold high standards of food quality, preparation, and presentation; emphasize menu appeal and balance.
• Maintain sanitation, food safety, and kitchen organization at all times.
• Complete setup and closing duties per Kitchen Manager guidelines; perform cleaning tasks.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
