Westtown School seeks an experienced, full-time Sous Chef to join our Dining Services Team. The role leads daily culinary execution, maintains high standards of nutrition and presentation, and ensures compliance with sanitation, safety, and regulatory requirements.

The position is based in West Chester, PA, with hours including day and evening shifts and weekend work. Responsibilities include mentoring staff, coordinating with the student work program, and upholding efficient kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in institutional food service management preferred.
• Two additional years of Sous Chef experience could substitute for the degree.
• Minimum of two years of Sous Chef experience in an institutional setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively.
• Ability to maintain records and complete reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of quantity food production, serving techniques, and sanitation requirements.
• Must hold or enroll to complete Chester County Food Manager Certification.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License to drive school vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily culinary execution for the Dining Services Program, ensuring policy alignment and compliance with regulations.
• Document purchasing, inventory, and food preparation to support efficient operations.
• Maintain high standards of sanitation, food safety, and kitchen organization.
• Prepare meals efficiently and complete setup and closing duties per guidelines.
• Collaborate with student work program and kitchen staff to model best practices.
