Job summary

Lighthouse at Chico Assisted Living in Chico, CA is seeking a Sous Chef to lead kitchen operations, coordinate cooks across stations, and ensure high-quality menu execution. You will supervise, train, and motivate the kitchen team while upholding health, safety, and sanitation standards.

The role emphasizes inventory planning, collaboration with the Head Chef to develop dishes, and maintaining excellent resident meals with attention to dietary requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in kitchen/culinary roles.
• Awareness of COSHH regulations and chemical safety.
• Experience operating kitchen equipment and appliances.
• High level of attention to detail in food prep and cleanliness.
• Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work.
• Strong team player with collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Directing the food preparation process and delegating tasks.
• Cooking and preparing high quality dishes.
• Assisting the Head Chef to create menu items, recipes and develop dishes.
• Supervising all kitchen stations.
• Supervising, motivating and working closely with other Chefs/Cook of all levels.
• Being responsible for health and safety.
• Being responsible for food hygiene practices.
• Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created.
• Assisting with determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering.
• Ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines.

Education

High School Diploma

Minimum 2 years relevant experience

COSHH awareness and chemical safety

Experience with kitchen equipment
