Job summary

Job description

**Job Summary:**
Supervises preparation and production of food in a specific area of the Food Service Department. Directly supervises a food service outlet.

**Major Responsibilities:**

  1. Supervises and assists in preparation and presentation of all food items. Ensures food is fresh and prepared in a timely fashion.
  2. Schedules employees and production of food items according to the projected attendance.
  3. Responsible for ordering food materials and supplies to meet guest demand. Ensures waste is minimized and food costs are within budget.
  4. Trains staff in production and presentation of products. Maintains recipe books and training logs.
  5. Creates new recipes for special events and the restaurant.
  6. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including equipment repair, cleanliness, and coolers' maintenance.
  7. Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities following UO policies and procedures.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Education:**
High School diploma or GED required.

**Experience:**
3-5 years in a supervisory Chef position or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Certifications:**
Professional Food Manager Certification required. Chef apprentice preferred.
