About The Position

The Sous Chef is responsible for enhancing the overall Resident experience by assisting the Executive Chef through exceptional oversight and culinary training of kitchen staff. The Sous Chef supervises and coordinates culinary activities across all dining venues, including Bistro, Casual, Formal, Luminations memory care, and Club Room, as well as special events and private functions. This role requires a professional, friendly, courteous, helpful, and timely approach to ensure a high level of satisfaction for Residents and their guests. The Sous Chef reports to the Executive Chef and operates in accordance with community standards, processes, procedures, practices, and philosophies.

Qualifications And Requirements
  • College or Culinary School Degree required.
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from Culinary school or relevant training/experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Minimum three years in Food and Beverage, country club, fine dining, restaurant, or senior living hospitality experience.
  • Scratch cooking experience required.
  • Sauté and broiler experience preferred.
  • ServeSafe certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for managing staff, completing requisitions, reading recipes, and communicating effectively with staff, Residents, and guests.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use all kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, reach, grasp, push, pull, and work continuously without sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions within varying temperature ranges.
