Job Summary

As a Sous Chef at Genesis House, you will play a pivotal role in the successful operation of the Culinary Department. Genesis House offers an outstanding fine dining experience featuring distinctly Korean cuisine. Your responsibilities will include supervising, preparing, and cooking various food items, developing daily menu items, and ensuring their preparation and garnishment. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering. This position offers an upbeat opportunity for an outstanding culinary professional to work in a unique and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
  • Help plan and build menus alongside the Executive Chef.
  • Plan and complete catering events.
  • Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the company's marketing and culinary team.
  • Supervise hourly associates and ensure accurate training and development.
  • Maintain excellent food quality and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Develop and test new recipes to improve the menu offerings.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to kitchen staff, encouraging a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and customer happiness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts or restaurant management.
  • Progressive experience in fine dining or upscale restaurant environments.
  • Proven track record in menu development and execution.
  • Strong background in Korean cuisine is highly desirable.
  • Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations.
  • Proficiency in managing food costs, ensuring quality, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Proficiency with restaurant management software and tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
