Job summary

Asbury Communities, Inc. in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking a trusted Sous Chef to lead daily culinary operations and mentor production staff.

You will partner with the Executive Chef to ensure high quality, consistent menu execution, and touchpoint with dining managers. This full-time role offers evening shifts (11:00am–7:30pm or 12:00pm–8:30pm), every other weekend and holiday, and a pay rate of $22 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two (2)+ years’ experience as a Sous Chef or other kitchen leadership position.
• ServSafe Manager’s Certificate required or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Leads daily culinary planning meetings. Attends weekly dining managers’ meetings.
• Assists Executive Chef in training new associates and mentoring all production associates.
• Quality checks all completed production; tastes all menu items; ensures standards for appearance, texture, taste, temperature and overall quality.
• Assists with healthcare cooking and mentorship of those cooks.
• Prepares forecasted amounts of each menu item; follows recipes; assists in ensuring standards and coordination for meal service.
• Assists Executive Chef in menu planning, ordering & inventory, planning special events & catering, and other operational tasks.

Schedule & Pay

• Full-Time Position, 80 hours bi-weekly


• Hours: between 11:00am- 7:30pm OR




• 12:00pm-8:30pm

Job Description

• Quality checks all completed production; tastes all menu items, ensuring that they meet standards for appearance, texture, taste, temperature, and overall quality. Is proactive in making corrections to production, plating and presentation done by other production associates.


• Assists with healthcare cooking and mentorship of those cooks.


• Prepares forecasted amounts of each menu item assigned, as identified on production sheets. Follows recipes accurately. Assists Executive Chef in ensuring that all production associates meet standards, and that production is coordinated for meal service.


• Assists Executive Chef in menu planning, ordering & inventory, planning special events & catering, and other operational tasks.

Qualifications

• Two (2)+ years’ experience as a Sous Chef or other kitchen leadership position.


• High school diploma or GED equivalency.


• ServSafe Manager’s Certificate required or willing to obtain within 6 months of employement.
