Job Summary

As a Sous Chef I, you are responsible for assisting with the overall success of the food program and overseeing culinary functions. Your duties include planning, ordering, inventory management, and food preparation, ensuring adherence to client culture, health regulations, and company standards for food quality, freshness, and presentation. You will also motivate, train, develop, and direct back-of-house staff to meet operational objectives and ensure customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in preparing and cooking various food items.
2. Help in planning and creating menus.
3. Implement new culinary programs with the marketing and culinary teams.
4. Manage cost controls and expenditures.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related culinary experience, including at least 1 year in a management role.
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, healthcare, or related food service operations.
• Knowledge of food industry trends, quality standards, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
• Leadership, supervisory, training, management, and coaching skills.
• ServSafe or Department of Health Certification preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel.
• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
