Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sourcing RFQ Engineer based in the United States.

The Sourcing RFQ Engineer will play a key role in evaluating manufacturing requirements and delivering accurate, competitive quotes for customers in a global digital manufacturing marketplace. This position combines mechanical engineering expertise, cost analysis, and design-for-manufacturability assessments to support efficient sourcing decisions. You will analyze CAD models and technical drawings, evaluate production methods, and calculate costs across a wide range of manufacturing processes. Working closely with Sales and Engineering teams, you will translate complex technical specifications into clear, actionable recommendations. The role also involves optimizing quoting workflows, maintaining reliable pricing databases, and supporting process automation initiatives. This is an opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional to apply technical knowledge in a remote, technology-driven environment with an international scope.

Accountabilities

The Sourcing RFQ Engineer will assess customer requirements, determine manufacturing feasibility, and prepare timely, technically sound quotations.

  • Analyze technical drawings and 3D CAD models in English to understand specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and production requirements.
  • Calculate manufacturing costs, including raw materials, machining hours, labor intensity, and post-processing operations.
  • Recommend suitable manufacturing processes based on part geometry, material properties, production requirements, and cost considerations.
  • Review 2D drawings and 3D models to evaluate manufacturability and provide design-for-manufacturing (DFM) feedback.
  • Prepare, organize, and clarify requests for quotation (RFQs) in collaboration with Sales and Engineering teams.
  • Document technical assessments and cost calculations, ensuring clear and accurate transfer of information to the Sales and Commercial teams.
  • Prepare high-quality quotations efficiently, targeting turnaround times of approximately one to two working hours whenever feasible.
  • Maintain and update quotation databases to ensure pricing accuracy, consistency, and reliable access to information.
  • Support workflow optimization and process automation initiatives to improve quoting efficiency and operational performance.
  • Evaluate machining, fabrication, and finishing requirements across a broad range of materials and manufacturing technologies.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced mechanical or manufacturing engineering professional with strong technical drawing interpretation skills, a thorough understanding of industrial production processes, and the ability to deliver accurate results under time pressure. The following qualifications and competencies are expected:

  • Higher technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 6 years of experience in metalworking, mechanical engineering, or a closely related manufacturing field.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing processes, including turning, milling, CNC machining, electrical discharge machining (EDM), laser, waterjet and plasma cutting, sheet metal fabrication, grinding, and welding.
  • Knowledge of post-processing techniques, including polishing, hardening, heat treatment, anodizing, sandblasting, shot blasting, coatings, and painting.
  • Understanding of the properties and processing requirements of metals, plastics, and composite materials.
  • Strong technical drawing interpretation skills, with expert-level proficiency in assessing specifications and manufacturability.
  • Experience with tooling and fixture design for machining, assembly, and welding.
  • Knowledge of coatings and heat treatment, as well as the ability to assess labor requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Familiarity with CNC CAM programming tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and CypCut, with a willingness to develop further expertise.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or above, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • A customer-oriented mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Comfort with modern technology and digital tools, including CAD/CAM software, CRM platforms, and cloud-based systems.
  • Ability to work remotely with a reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home-office setup.
Benefits
  • Full-time remote work arrangement.
  • Flexible working schedule aligned with the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • Company-provided desktop computer and monitor.
  • Holiday calendar based on EU or local public holidays.
  • Opportunity to contribute to manufacturing sourcing, technical cost analysis, and process optimization in a technology-driven environment.
