Job description

We are currently partnering with a Northeast Ohio manufacturing company on a unique Quoting Engineer opportunity that offers far more than a traditional engineering role.

This position sits at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, operations, and business development, making it an excellent fit for someone who enjoys understanding not just how products are made - but also how manufacturing decisions impact profitability, customer relationships, and company growth.

Even more exciting, this is a succession-planning hire. The company is intentionally bringing someone on board now to learn directly from the current Quoting Engineer before ultimately taking ownership of the function. For the right person, this creates a rare opportunity to develop into a key technical and commercial resource within the organization.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications
  • Evaluate manufacturability and recommend cost-effective production methods
  • Develop cost estimates for metal stamping, fabrication, laser cutting, welding, assembly, tooling, and materials
  • Analyze labor content, cycle times, scrap rates, machine rates, and material utilization
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, tooling, and purchasing teams
  • Support customer discussions regarding manufacturing feasibility and cost considerations
  • Track awarded business and compare actual performance against quoted assumptions
  • Participate in continuous improvement, value engineering, and cost reduction initiatives
What We're Looking For
  • Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related background
  • Minimum 3 years in manufacturing, estimating, quoting, process engineering, or cost analysis experience
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excel and ERP/MRP experience
  • Experience in metal stamping, fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, or industrial manufacturing environments is highly desirable
Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role offers exposure to virtually every area of the business. You'll work closely with sales, engineering, production, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and customers while gaining a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and business operations.

Unlike many engineering roles that become highly specialized, this opportunity provides a unique blend of technical engineering, manufacturing operations, cost analysis, customer interaction, and strategic decision-making. It's an excellent fit for an early-career engineer looking to broaden their skillset and accelerate their long-term career growth.
