Qualifications

Nehslo Animation Studios is building a vetted Freelance Sound Designer Pool for upcoming animated and mixed-media productions. This pool will serve as a curated network of sound designers eligible for project-based engagement across original IP, episodic series, short-form content, and client productions.

Position Description

As a Freelance Sound Designer, you will build the sonic world of a production from the ground up. Sound at Nehslo is not an afterthought - it is part of the storytelling, and we're looking for designers who treat it that way. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Designing and building original sound palettes for characters, environments, and events
• Recording, editing, and placing foley, ambience, and effects across the production
• Collaborating with Directors and Composers to ensure sound and score serve a unified sonic vision
• Mixing dialogue, effects, and music to broadcast or distribution specification
• Delivering finished audio in formats compatible with Nehslo's post pipeline

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven sound design experience on animated, film, or mixed-media productions
• Strong creative instincts for building original sound worlds rather than relying on stock libraries
• Experience recording, editing, and placing foley and original effects
• Ability to mix to broadcast or streaming delivery specifications
• Clear and effective communication in remote, cross-departmental environments

Preferred (But Not Required)

• Proficiency in Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or equivalent DAW
• Experience designing sound specifically for animation
• Familiarity with Dolby Atmos, 5.1, or spatial audio workflows
• Background in episodic, short-form, or commercial post production audio
