Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Sorts merchandise.
  • Examines merchandise to determine if item is sellable or non-sellable.
  • Throws away non-sellable merchandise before it goes to the pricer's table.
  • Debatable items need to be given to the pricer for their determination.
  • Places sellable items in the bin for the pricer to price.
  • Sorter has responsibility to meet timelines and production goals.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area for safety and efficient production.
  • Ensures the flow of product in and out of the workstation.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including assignments outside the primary area of employment.

Summary

Sorts incoming merchandise into specified classifications to supplement the stores productivity and increase sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sorts merchandise.
  • Examines merchandise to determine if item is sellable or non-sellable.
  • Throws away non-sellable merchandise before it goes to the pricer's table.
  • Sorter is not responsible for determining which "debatable" items are sellable or not. These "debatable" items need to be given to the pricer for their determination.
  • Places sellable items in the bin for the pricer to price.
  • Sorter has responsibility to meet timelines and production goals.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area for safety and efficient production.
  • Ensures the flow of product in and out of the workstation.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including assignments, which may be outside the primary area of employment.

Physical Demands
  • Works inside in a production and retail environment.
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, stand and move throughout the store.
  • Use upper body strength to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to dust from donations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, bending and stooping and occasionally walking.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift the arms shoulder height or above.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds.
