Job summary

WM is seeking a Sorter in San Leandro, CA, to ensure proper placement and sorting of materials on the conveyor line. This on-site role involves feeding material, operating and maintaining equipment per SOPs, and keeping the work area clean.

No experience is required for this position, and a High School Diploma or GED is preferred. The role emphasizes safety, with regular safety meetings and potential pre-employment testing where required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or containers according to type, size, condition, coloring or paper grade.
• Pull contaminants out of paper or off of floor.
• Stack boxes and skids; dump boxes and totes of material.
• Feed material such as wastepaper onto conveyor.
• Clean up conveyor and sorting line; keep work area clean.
• Read monitor for machine start up and ensure proper operation at moderate speed.
• Follow SOPs for operating and maintaining equipment.
• Report safety factors and equipment malfunctions.
• Attend weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
