Position Summary

ORLANDO HEALTH ARNOLD PALMER HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN

Located on the downtown Orlando Health campus, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has been providing compassionate care to children, teenagers, and young adults of Central Florida for over 30 years. Position: Sonographer - I

Provides quality patient care by performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures for anatomical demonstration and interpretation.

Shift: FT, 4-10 hour shifts, 8p-6:30a, Sun-Wed.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  1. Collaborates with Radiologists to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
  2. Uses professional judgment to ensure quality care and maintains a professional demeanor.
  3. Provides appropriate care, recognizing patient conditions and completing procedures successfully.
  4. Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
  5. Aligns with Orlando Health’s mission and standards of excellence.
  6. Assesses patient’s physical condition and specific needs based on age.
  7. Provides clear instructions to ensure patient cooperation.
  8. Performs proper patient identification, gathers clinical history, and documents accurately.
  9. Positions patient and equipment to obtain high-quality images.
  10. Evaluates images for technical quality, annotation, and proper demonstration of anatomy.
  11. Follows Quality Control standards and participates in related tasks.
  12. Administers medical aid in emergencies.
  13. Applies standard precautions and PPE to prevent cross-contamination.
  14. Supervises and trains student and new sonographers.
  15. Utilizes radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  16. Ensures safety of all patients and staff.
  17. Maintains regular and punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  18. Adheres to all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  1. Follows standards for image processing and interpretation.
  2. Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment.
  3. May work at any facility as needed.
  4. Provides patient transport as required.
Qualifications
Education/Training

Graduate of an accredited school of sonography, eligible for ARDMS certification.

Licensure/Certification
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Maintains ARDMS physics and one other ARDMS registry.
Experience

Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and demonstrated competency in performing ultrasounds relevant to the department.
