Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography OR Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
ARDMS (OB) registered or registry eligible per ARDMS requirements. (Obtain OB registry within 1 year of employment)
BLS certification within 31 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of experience working in OB/GYN field.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Perform detailed first trimester OB ultrasound imaging.
Perform first trimester screening and nuchal translucency ultrasound.
Perform general and high-risk targeted 2nd and 3rd trimester OB ultrasound imaging.
Singleton and multiple gestation pregnancies
Perform Gyn ultrasound studies (transabdominal and transvaginal)
Obtains, reviews, and integrates pertinent patient history and supporting clinical Identify aneuploidy markers and fetal anomalies and make independent MFM defined protocol decisions based on the findings.
Inform Perinatalogist of findings when necessary.
Assists in procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling guidance.
Middle Cerebral Artery, Umbilical Artery and Ductus Venosus Ultrasounds
3D/4D imaging and manipulation
Perform quality and compassionate patient care to ensure patient cooperation, safety, and satisfaction.
Maintains sonographic and other equipment in efficient operating order; assists with preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis.
Must have the ability to work well with others, acts as a team member. Ability to work independently and engage in critical thinking to improve the quality of care.
Provides accurate room preparation and instructions to patient / family according to the procedure and physically prepares patient for examination which includes explaining the imaging procedure and answers pertinent procedural questions and provides patient education related to ultrasound procedure.
Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.
Patient Care:
Responsible for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patient while in the sonographer’s care.
Demonstrates proper identification of patients by asking for name/date of birth.
Maintains patient privacy.
Maintains clean work area and properly stocked examination room.
Other Duties as assigned:
Assists in scheduling and aids in troubleshooting problems with scheduling.
Maintains all institutional training requirements.
Maintains all continuing medical education requirements and maintains the ARDMS registry.
May perform other duties as assigned.
