Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Professional proficiency in English and Somali.
• Ability to accurately provide consecutive interpretation.
• Successful completion of interpreter proficiency evaluations.
• Résumé submitted in English during the application process.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education/experience as required by client standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate consecutive interpretation between English and Somali on onsite assignments.
• Provide remote interpretation by telephone or video when applicable to assignments.
• Follow interpreter protocols, professional standards, and client requirements.
• Comply with Propio and client confidentiality, privacy, security and assignment protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy, security, and data-protection requirements (HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, etc.).
• Interact professionally with clients, patients, and other participants.
• Maintain language proficiency and subject-matter knowledge for accurate interpretation.
