Job summary

Mindlink Resources seeks a dedicated Somali Community Interpreter to support multilingual students, families, and staff in Portland OR and Vancouver WA. The role involves onsite interpretation at client sites and secure video interpretation for virtual meetings and assessments.

Required: 1–2 years of professional interpreting, native Somali fluency, and experience with Zoom/Teams. Preferred: 60-hour training and certifications (CCHI/NBCC etc.), plus K-12 experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of professional interpreting experience.
• Verified Somali language proficiency and native-level fluency.
• Familiarity with Zoom, Teams or other video platforms; secure, quiet workspace.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate Somali interpretation during IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events.
• Deliver services onsite and via secure video platforms.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethics.
• Collaborate with educators to ensure meaningful access for Spanish-speaking families.
• Use LinguistLink for scheduling and glossary development; troubleshoot basic video issues.
