Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter skilled in SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create precise 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical systems and product designs. You will support design documentation, ensure manufacturability, and maintain file organization with version control.

The ideal candidate has strong GD&T knowledge, experience with PDM software, and excellent technical writing abilities to produce clear CAD documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical drafting with 2D CAD drafting and 3D modeling for product design or system layout.
• Demonstrated ability to use CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T standards, and system design processes.
• Experience working with PDM software for file management; ability to organize complex project data efficiently.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong technical writing skills; able to produce clear CAD documentation.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Solids Works / CAD Drafter to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise 2D and 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and schematics for mechanical systems and product designs. Your expertise in CAD software and mechanical drafting will contribute to the development of innovative solutions, ensuring designs meet industry standards and client specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate on complex projects, enhance your technical skills, and support the engineering process from concept through detailed documentation.

Duties

• Develop detailed 2D drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• Create accurate 3D models for product design, system layout, and mechanical components utilizing tools like SolidWorks
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to interpret design concepts into precise CAD documentation
• Support the review of CAD models and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability; incorporate feedback to refine designs.
• Maintain organized CAD files and ensure version control and proper documentation practices.
• Produce technical reports and documentation to support design engineering activities; contribute to technical writing efforts as needed.
• Participate in assembly modeling and visualization tasks including 2D animations for presentations or client reviews.

Experience

• Proven experience in mechanical drafting with proficiency in 2D CAD drafting and 3D modeling for product design or system layout.
• Demonstrated ability to use CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T standards, and system design processes.
• Experience working with PDM software for file management; ability to organize complex project data efficiently.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong technical writing skills; capable of producing clear and comprehensive CAD documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches and specifications accurately; collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
