Job Summary

A growing engineering services firm in Escondido, CA is seeking a Junior CAD Designer for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an early-career CAD professional who is ready to move beyond the classroom or an initial drafting position and gain hands-on experience with real engineering and construction projects. The Junior CAD Designer will work closely with experienced engineers, designers, and project managers in a supportive team environment that values accuracy, collaboration, and professional development. This is a strong opportunity for someone with a solid AutoCAD foundation, strong attention to detail, and the motivation to build a long-term career in civil, structural, or engineering design. This position offers exposure to technical drawing packages, project revisions, CAD standards, and quality-control procedures while providing a clear path to grow into higher-level CAD Designer, Engineering Designer, or Project Design responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation and Benefits

• Direct hire opportunity.
• Salary range: $65,000 to $85,000 per year.
• Location: Escondido, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Prepare AutoCAD drawings, plans, layouts, and details for engineering projects.
• Support construction and engineering drawing packages from sketches, redlines, and markups.
• Coordinate drawing updates with engineers, designers, and project managers.
• Maintain accurate project files, CAD documentation, and drawing revisions.
• 1 to 3 years of CAD or drafting experience preferred, with early-career candidates encouraged to apply.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and understand drawings, plans, dimensions, redlines, and technical markups.
• CAD certificate, associate degree, or coursework in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Technology, or a related field is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
• Comfortable working in a deadline-driven engineering environment.
• Coachable, dependable, and eager to continue developing technical design skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Revit, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, or similar design software.
• Exposure to civil, structural, architectural, construction, or engineering design projects.
• Familiarity with engineering drawing packages, CAD standards, and quality-control review processes.
• Interest in growing into a higher-level CAD Designer, Engineering Designer, or Project Design role.
