Mecklenburg County Government is seeking a skilled operator for solid waste equipment at the Hickory Grove Recycling Center in Charlotte, NC. You will work a rotating schedule Monday through Saturday, 6:30am to 4:30pm, performing load inspections and operating heavy machinery under supervision.
The role requires a minimum of six years of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and County driving privileges; a Class A or B CDL with endorsements may be required depending on assignment.

Work Schedule: This role will require working a rotating schedule Monday - Saturday during the hours of 6:30am - 4:30pm.
Performs responsible and skilled work engaging in solid waste equipment operation. This position, under minimal supervision, is responsible for operating technically complex equipment and ensuring safety procedures are followed during solid waste operations. This position is responsible for waste screening activities, customer service interaction and may train others within this job series.
Requires County Driving Privileges
Depending on the area of assignment, may require a Class A or B CDL with one or more of the following endorsements, H(Hazardous Materials), N(Tank Vehicle), P (Passenger Transport), S (School Bus/Passenger Transport), T (Double/Triples), or X (Tanker and hazardous Materials).
Depending upon the area of assignment, may require a Waste Management Operators Certificate (Landfill) or Compost Facility Operators Certificate (Mulch Processing) or Transfer Station Operators Certificate, as required by State regulations and facility permit requirements.
Experience working in the waste management field and be familiar with the nomenclature of terms, job hazards, and standard limitations of material acceptance.
