The City of Savannah is seeking a Sanitation Supervisor to oversee the Street Cleaning Division and daily sanitation operations. You will supervise staff, assign crews, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to city codes.

Associate Degree; with four (4) years of supervisory experience in code enforcement, solid waste management or public work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Class B CDL license preferred not required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8:00 p.m. -6:00 a.m.
Work Location: 20 Interchange Drive
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Division Director and/or Administrator assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with City ordinances, waste collection and disposal procedures.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include city ordinances, the employee handbook, and department standard operating procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied supervisory duties. Inclement weather conditions contribute to the complexity of the position.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to supervise the provision of commercial refuse collection services. Success in this position contributes to the provision of efficient and effective services.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other city employees, representatives of businesses, contractors, and members of the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide services, resolve problems, and motivate personnel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects and climbs ladders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors. The employee may be exposed to machinery with moving parts and cold or inclement weather conditions.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position has direct supervision over assigned staff.
