Job summary

Yakima County is seeking a Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator to run a D-8 Dozer and related gear at county solid waste sites. This regular, non-exempt position requires a Class A CDL and six years of equipment operation experience. Pay rates range from $30.12 to $38.20 per hour; hiring rate $30.12 to $31.97; overtime eligible.

Qualifications

• High School or GED and six years equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate a D-8 Dozer or equivalent for grading, excavating, backfill and pushing waste.
• Operate a refuse compactor to achieve proper waste compaction.
• Operate other equipment (loader, water truck, bin truck, walking floor trailers) as needed.
• Respond to inquiries/complaints from the public and ensure safety at landfill sites.
