Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking a Solid Waste Equipment Operator to operate assigned trucks and equipment on designated routes, including side loader, front loader, roll-off, and knuckle boom. You will perform inspections and minor repairs, and maintain required reports.

You must read maps or route printouts, communicate effectively with coworkers, and hold a Texas CDL (Class A or B) along with a High School Diploma or GED. Outdoor year-round work and possible weekend shifts are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Texas CDL Class A or B license is required.
• Ability to read maps, route printouts or instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operate solid waste equipment on assigned route with year-round work.
• Inspect, wash, and perform minor repairs on equipment as assigned.
• Complete daily task and inspection reports; report unsafe conditions.
• Learn a minimum of three different routes within the specified time.
