Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking an Alley Clean-Up Equipment Operator to join the Solid Waste Collection team. You will operate assigned trucks and equipment such as rear loaders, knuckle booms, or backhoes, including in alleys and during inclement weather.

Two years of truck operation experience are preferred, and a valid Texas CDL is required. Expect shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as weather essential personnel.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience operating medium and large trucks preferred.
• Valid Texas Class A or B CDL required.
• Ability to read maps, route printouts, or instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operates solid waste equipment on assigned route, including heavy traffic and narrow alleys.
• Operates a variety of equipment and adjusts as needed for efficient operation.
• Collects solid waste using automated and manual methods.
• Delivers and offloads waste at transfer stations or landfills.
• Inspects, washes, cleans, and minor repairs to equipment.
• Completes daily task and inspection reports and communicates unsafe conditions.
