Job summary

Under supervision, the Solid Waste Equipment Operator will operate assigned trucks and equipment, including side loader, front loader, roll-off, and knuckle boom. The role may supervise up to two others as assigned by the route supervisor.

Must hold a valid Texas CDL (Class A or B) and a High School Diploma or GED. Regular attendance, map reading, and safe driving on busy routes are essential to success in this position with City of Amarillo.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Texas CDL Class A or B license required.
• Must be able to read maps and route prints.
• Good communication with co-workers and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operate solid waste equipment on assigned route.
• Drive in heavy traffic and navigate narrow alleys.
• Inspect and clean equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Complete daily task reports and report unsafe conditions.
• Learn a minimum of three routes within a set time.
