Job summary

City of Peoria is seeking a Public Works position focused on operating heavy equipment for street and waste-related tasks. Responsibilities include excavating, trenching, street cleaning, and transporting refuse and recycling to the landfill.

The role also involves operating various waste collection vehicles and possibly an articulated tractor, with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and adherence to schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 9–12 months of experience in a similar or related position.
• Must have physical ability for heavy exertion.
• Valid Arizona Class “B” CDL required at time of hire.
• Class “A” CDL and/or Tanker/HazMAT endorsements may be required within 12 months of hire.

• Operate solid waste equipment (front load, side load, rear load, roll-off).
• Operate an articulated tractor as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment for tasks such as excavating, trenching, street cleaning, and delivering refuse and recycling materials to the landfill.
• Operate various types of solid waste equipment, including front load, side load, rear load, and roll-off collection vehicles.
• Operate an articulated tractor as required.
• List ALL Commercial Driving Experience on resume and application.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalency.
• At least 9–12 months of experience in a similar or related position.
• Physical ability to perform heavy physical exertion and effort.
• A valid Arizona Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) must be held at the time of hire.
• Depending on assignment, a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and/or Tanker and HazMAT endorsements may be required within 12 months of hire.
