Job summary

The City of Peoria is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join the Solid Waste Division. This position will have direct contact with City staff across all departments and divisions, as well as residents, schools, and other municipalities and businesses.

The purpose is to provide technical advice and act as a lead to Equipment Operators. Duties include performing a wide variety of advanced and specialized duties, providing technical guidance, assigning and monitoring work, and

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalency.
• 2-4 years of experience; considerable previous experience in same/similar roles.
• Valid Arizona Class “A” CDL with endorsements/certifications upon hire.
• Solid Waste experience and leadership in a municipal setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and act as a lead to Equipment Operators.
• Perform a wide variety of advanced and specialized duties.
• Provide technical guidance, assign and monitor work, assist staff with difficult assignments.
• Deliver customer service support to internal/external customers and the public.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• High school graduation or equivalency

Experience:

• 2-4 years of experience. Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.

Physical Demands:

• The work requires heavy physical exertion. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 and 50 pounds.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid Arizona Class “A” Commercial Driver's License with additional endorsement and certification for assigned area of responsibility upon hire.
