Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking a Solid Waste Engineer for our Houston, TX office. You will work on civil and environmental projects related to solid waste facilities, performing calculations, report preparation, and design tasks for stormwater, landfill grading, leachate, and gas collection systems.

Ideal candidates have a PE license (or be licensed soon), a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and 7–10 years of experience, with strong project management skills and AutoCAD/Civil

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• 7–10 years of professional engineering experience.
• Experience with IHW and O&G waste preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform airspace, excavation, and fill volume calculations for solid waste facilities.
• Prepare and review technical reports and assist with stormwater and landfill design.
• Conduct fieldwork for Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) and environmental monitoring.

Job description

As a Solid Waste Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC) in our Houston, TX office you’ll work on civil and environmental engineering projects primarily associated with solid waste facilities. These projects will involve completing engineering tasks such as airspace, excavation, and fill volume calculations, preparation, review and compilation of technical reports, stormwater management system design, and landfill grading, leachate and landfill gas collection system design. You will also assist with some amount of field work - Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) - landfill cell and cap construction and environmental monitoring of landfill facilities. Interacting with CEC office and field staff, clients and contractors. Your effort will be part of the overall completion of landfill design, construction and certification projects.

• B.S. in Civil Engineering
• Liscensed P.E.
• 7-10 years’ professional engineering experience
• Preferred experience with IHW and O&G waste
• Strong project management skills
• Waste permitting, construction design, CQA, groundwater monitoring, operations support
• Ambition with a desire to learn and apply new skills
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, HEC-RAS or other computer modeling software
