Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Solid Waste Engineer for our Austin, TX office. Responsibilities include engineering tasks for solid waste facilities, field QA activities, and coordination with clients and contractors.

The candidate should have a PE license or be eligible, and 7–10 years in civil engineering is preferred. Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D and waste-related design is highly valued, along with strong project management and a desire to learn and develop

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required and PE license preferred.
• 7–10 years of professional engineering experience.
• Preferred experience with IHW and O&G waste.
• Strong project management skills and experience with waste permitting and CQA.

Responsibilities

• Perform airspace, excavation and fill volume calculations for solid waste facilities.
• Prepare, review and compile technical reports and designs.
• Design stormwater management systems and landfill grading, leachate and landfill gas collection systems.
• Assist with field work including Construction Quality Assurance on landfill cells and caps.
• Collaborate with office staff, clients and contractors on projects.
• Contribute to landfill design, construction and certification efforts.

Job description

As a Solid Waste Engineer for Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. (CEC) in our Austin, TX office you’ll work on civil and environmental engineering projects primarily associated with solid waste facilities. These projects will involve completing engineering tasks such as airspace, excavation, and fill volume calculations, preparation, review and compilation of technical reports, stormwater management system design, and landfill grading, leachate and landfill gas collection system design. You will also assist with some amount of field work - Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) - landfill cell and cap construction and environmental monitoring of landfill facilities. Interacting with CEC office and field staff, clients and contractors. Your effort will be part of the overall completion of landfill design, construction and certification projects.

• B.S. in Civil Engineering
• Liscensed P.E.
• 7-10 years’ professional engineering experience
• Preferred experience with IHW and O&G waste
• Strong project management skills
• Waste permitting, construction design, CQA, groundwater monitoring, operations support
• Ambition with a desire to learn and apply new skills
• Experience with AutoCAD / Civil 3D, HEC-RAS or other computer modeling software
