Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in Pittsburgh's Waste Management Practice is seeking an Civil Engineering Assistant Project Manager to support project management from planning through final certification.

You will work with an established team to solve problems, optimize performance, and meet client needs. You will assist in designing stormwater and leachate systems, reviewing reports, performing geotechnical analyses, and helping manage construction QA for landfill facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years professional engineering experience.
  • PE license preferred, or plan to obtain soon.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Familiarity with HELP Model, HydroCAD, Slide, KYPipe, and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously andLearn/grow professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Support management of projects primarily related to waste facilities across all phases from planning and design through permitting and construction administration.
  • Assist in leading projects, solving problems, reducing risk and costs, optimizing performance, and satisfying client needs.
  • Prepare and review technical reports; design and review stormwater management systems, leachate management systems, and landfill gas collection systems.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses and prepare landfill grading plans, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Assist with construction quality assurance, including landfill liner and leachate collection systems, gas collection systems, cap construction, and environmental monitoring.

Job description

As a Civil Engineering Assistant Project Manager at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), in our Waste Management Practice in the Pittsburgh office, you’ll support the management of projects primarily associated with waste facilities. You will assist in leading projects through all phases of development, from planning and design through permitting, construction administration, and final certification, working with an established team of professionals to solve problems, reduce risk and costs, optimize performance, and satisfy client needs.

You will perform engineering tasks and oversee project staff in engineering assignments, including calculating airspace and earthwork volumes; preparing and reviewing technical reports; designing and reviewing stormwater management systems, leachate management systems, and landfill gas collection systems; performing geotechnical analyses, and preparing and reviewing landfill grading plans, construction drawings, and technical specifications.

You will also assist with the management of construction quality assurance projects including landfill cell liner and leachate collection systems, gas collection systems, cap construction, and environmental monitoring of landfill facilities. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will interact with clients, contractors, and state regulatory officials while supporting the successful execution of projects and delivering high-quality client service. As your experience grows, you will assume increasing responsibility for project management, client relationships, budgeting, scheduling, and staff development.
