Job summary

Lake County Solid Waste is seeking a full-time Driver / Operator to operate transfer trucks and perform related duties at container sites in Montana. The role requires a Class B CDL with winter driving experience, with Class A preferred, and weekend availability.

Responsibilities include transporting and unloading containers, basic fleet maintenance, and operating heavy equipment in variable weather. This union position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class B CDL with an acceptable driving record and a minimum of 1 year of CDL driving experience in winter conditions.
• Class A CDL is preferred.
• If you have a valid Class B CDL, you will be required to obtain a Class A by the end of your probationary period.
• Must possess the ability to operate large trucks and heavy equipment safely and skillfully.
• Be able to conduct minor repair and maintenance of trucks and equipment, work outdoors in extreme weather and temperatures, and work well with the public and coworkers.
• Must be knowledgeable of all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the operation of commercial motor vehicles.
• Must be able to lift 80lbs.
• Roll-off and pup trailer experience is preferred.

• Set empty containers.
• Consolidate loaded containers.
• Retrieve loaded containers.
• Deliver and unload containers.
• Clean area around container site, as well as truck and trailer.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment.
• Operate heavy equipment.
• Move and compact waste.
• Perform landfill duties, including working at the ticket shack.
• And perform other duties as assigned.

WAGE

$27.93/hourly. This is a union covered position.
