Lilly in Indianapolis seeks a Materials Scientist to join the Synthetic Molecule Design and Development (SMDD) team. You will help advance solid-state understanding across pre-clinical to product stages, delivering technical solutions for new modalities.

The role focuses on solid-state characterization, screening, and crystallization scale-up, with opportunities to contribute to workflows and data analysis while documenting results and collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• PhD in physical sciences (chemistry) or related field, or a Master's with 5+ years experience.
• Familiarity with XRPD, DSC, TGA, DVS and HPLC.
• Experience with solid form screening including crystallization and co-crystal screening.

Responsibilities

• Solid-form screening and characterization of novel molecules and intermediates.
• Scale up crystallization of small molecules and peptide fragments.
• Consult on solid-state problems for project teams.
• Develop workflows for solid-state integration with automated data analysis.
• Document scientific results and maintain lab areas and instrumentation.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
