Job summary

Lilly, headquartered in Indianapolis, is seeking a Materials Scientist to join the SMDD group. You will advance solid-state science across pre-clinical to clinical development and contribute to drug substance and product design for novel small molecules.

Qualifications

• PhD in a physical science (e.g. chemistry), pharmaceutics, or related discipline or Masters with 5+ years experience.
• PhD with industry experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with solid-state analytical tools (XRPD, DSC, TGA, DVS, HPLC) and crystallization instrumentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Solid-form screening and characterization of novel small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, and intermediates.
• Scale up crystallization of small molecules and peptide fragments.
• Consultant for project teams solving complex technical problems related to solid form assessment and particle properties.
• Apply solid-state principles to drug product development and manufacturing challenges.
• Develop workflows for solid-state integration with automated data analysis.
• Document scientific results and maintain laboratory areas and instrumentation.
