Solderer Assembler

Job Description

The Solderer Assembler builds, repairs, and assembles electronic modules and boxes while performing precise soldering and mechanical assembly tasks. This role works closely with engineers to troubleshoot hardware and software-related issues, support repairs on harnesses and PCBs, and ensure units meet quality and performance standards in a dynamic startup technology environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform soldering tasks on electronic components, harnesses, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) with a high level of accuracy and quality.

  • Build and repair electronic units, including modules and boxes, from provided specifications and engineering instructions.

  • Assemble mechanical and electronic components into complete modules and enclosures, ensuring proper fit, function, and reliability.

  • Support engineers by assisting with mechanical assembly and repair jobs, following guidance and collaborating to resolve technical issues.

  • Troubleshoot hardware problems in units and modules, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs.

  • Troubleshoot and fix problems with software-related boxes and systems, working alongside engineers to diagnose and correct issues.

  • Perform cup soldering and heat shrinking as part of harness and cable assembly processes.

  • Handle general production tasks such as loading components, organizing workstations, and maintaining orderly assembly areas.

  • Adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a fluid startup environment, taking on different tasks as needed.

  • Follow safety, quality, and workmanship standards in all assembly, soldering, and repair activities.

Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with soldering electronic components, including cup soldering on harnesses and PCBs.

  • Proficiency in electronic assembly, including working with modules, boxes, and related hardware.

  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks and work with tools and equipment used in hardware builds and repairs.

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware issues in electronic units and implementing appropriate repairs.

  • Capability to support troubleshooting and repair of software boxes in collaboration with engineers.

  • Comfort working closely with engineers and technical staff to diagnose and resolve unit-level problems.

  • Ability to work in a startup tech environment and remain effective in a fluid and flexible role.

  • Willingness to wear different hats and take on a variety of assembly, repair, and support tasks as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with heat shrinking techniques for harness and cable assemblies.

  • Experience in general production or manufacturing environments involving electronic assembly.

  • Familiarity with defense-related technology or hardware is beneficial.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in both mechanical and electronic work.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with engineers and team members about issues, progress, and solutions.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change rapidly.

Work Environment

This role is based in a startup tech defense environment that is fluid, flexible, and fast-paced. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hawthorne, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
