Job summary

AES Corporation is hiring a Solar Technician I to support utility-scale PV operations at the Armadillo Solar site near Corsicana, Texas. The role requires 1+ years of PV or power plant experience and offers opportunities to maintain inverters, trackers, and substations while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The position involves routine and complex electrical work, switching tasks, and ongoing training with potential travel to nearby sites.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical fundamentals and safety practices.
• Experience with solar PV O&M or power plant operations preferred.
• Proficiency with basic electrical troubleshooting and instrumentation calibration.

Responsibilities

• Owns O&M activities for solar PV sites and substations.
• Performs corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance.
• Performs electrical troubleshooting and inverter troubleshooting as needed.
• Prepares switching and clearance orders.
• Operates electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
• Participates in required training.
• Compiles Plant Orders, Procedures, and Operating Instructions.
• Ensures compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
• May assist with vegetation management and site docs.
• Work may be solo or in teams; travel as needed.
