Job summary

The Solar Tech II position at Duke Energy Florida requires providing support to multiple PV plant sites within the service territory, including troubleshooting and solving equipment issues, coordinating design changes, and guiding maintenance and start-up activities. Qualifications

  • Non-comparative (e.g. three years’ experience in a particular position, rather than a comparative requirement such as being one of the top five among the candidates in years of experience)
  • Objective (e.g. a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, but not a technical degree from a “good school”

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, resolve equipment issues - 30%
  • Design change requirements, and equipment modifications - 15%
  • Scheduling maintenance, installation, and start-up support. Position will also be responsible for supporting existing equipment performance and reliability - 15%
  • Support equipment testing schedules and assigning contract testers, technicians, and engineers to appropriate tasks while developing processes to improve O&M output quality - 15%
  • Ensures compliance with all operational, environmental and other regulatory and policy compliance requirements. Monitors station environmental, health and safety objectives and ensures they are met -10%
  • Provides leadership and accountability in order to achieve desired safety results (Lock Out Tag Out compliance, safety meeting attendance, contractor oversight, safety policies/procedures, work practices, etc.) - 15%
