Job summary

TerraForm Power in Bakersfield, CA seeks a Solar Technician 2 to maintain and operate utility-scale solar facilities. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and support QA/QC inspections to ensure safety and reliability.

Requirements include 2+ years in solar PV plant maintenance, knowledge of DAS and communication networks, and the ability to work nights and on-call. Possession of a valid driver's license and physical stamina are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in solar PV plant maintenance, troubleshooting, and switchgear operation.
• Knowledge of DAS, and communication networks.
• Hands-on experience in solar operations, troubleshooting, and industrial machine repair/maintenance.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, safety procedures, and technical troubleshooting.
• Willingness to work nights, on-call and be available for maintenance.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and work at heights.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Commitment to ongoing safety training.

Responsibilities

• Perform field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on solar equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on solar equipment and switchgear.
• Operate safely and follow LOTO and electrical safety rules.
• Monitor sites, manage work orders, and document tasks.
• Perform status checks, clear error codes, and repair as needed.
• Respond to emergency repairs on on-call basis.
• Prepare switching and clearance orders.
• Troubleshoot and QA/QC inspections.
• Use multimeters to measure AC/DC voltage and current.
• Identify electrical, environmental, and safety hazards.
• Maintain tools and a clean, safe work environment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
